The announcement on Thursday 19th May that Blackpool's South Beach has achieved Blue Flag status heralds the start of a sensational summer in the resort. On Saturday 21st May, that very beach will be brimming with visitors wishing to catch a glimpse of the Royal Air Force Red Arrows, who are in town to celebrate the first anniversary of the Pleasure Beach Skyforce ride. 

 

The display starts at 6.30pm and lasts approximately 20 minutes

Seaside Award status has also been gained by North, Central and Bispham beaches.

 

Paul Todd, coastal award manager from Keep Britain Tidy, the body tasked with administering the schemes in the UK said:
