For almost three decades, International Recovery Month, which takes place every September, has raised awareness of alcohol and drug use disorders and promoted the benefits of prevention, treatment and recovery support services.
Faces and Voices of Recovery UK (FAVOR UK) is the only organisation in the UK supporting, unifying and mobilising the UK Recovery Movement.
In 2017 FAVOR UK is going about its great work in three ways: the launch of a Recovery Month Toolkit and the relaunching of the short film We are you - the affected, culminating in the UK Recovery Walk on Saturday 9th September in Blackpool when thousands of people in long term recovery, alongside their friends and families, will be making visible the viable and varied recovery solutions for addiction to alcohol and other drugs.
We are looking forward to welcoming thousands of people in recovery to Blackpool, along with their friends and family and are sure that once they experience all that Blackpool has to offer they will return again and again
Head of Clinical Services
In-keeping with the Blackpool tradition of doing things bigger and better than anywhere else, the Recovery Walk is the largest gathering of the recovery community in Europe.
Beginning at 12 noon at South Pier - close to South Shore's LT Travel Agency and Ticket Office at the Bond/Withnell crossroads - the journey will taken in all of the resort's iconic landmarks, including the First Lady of Fun - The Blackpool Tower. It'll be an open celebration of the joys of recovery, with entertainment from local artists.
