Proving that pantomime can work just as well in summer as the more traditional Christmas scheduling of the family favourite, back for a fifth year in a row is The Wizard of Oz at Blackpool's North Pier.
It's fun for all the family in the 1500 seater North Pier Theatre every Wednesday until 23rd August, with double helpings as there will be performances at 2.30pm and 7pm.
Expect lots of slapstick and silliness from Reece Sibbald, who leads the cast as Scarecrow alongside Pippa Smith as Dorothy. Jordan Carling is the Cowardly Lion, Alex Smith the Tin Man and Duke DeMilo the main man, The Wizard of Oz. Nik Grundison ramps up the evil as The Wicked Witch of The West and naughty meets nice too with Rachel Slattery as Glinda The Good Witch.
You'll discover why you should never choose Bonnie Tyler as your SatNav voice (as it keeps telling you to turn around and every now and then it falls apart). There's also inneudnos a-plenty for mums and dads when asked to ponder why if music is musical and quizzes are quizzical, what does that makes tests ?
The hallmark Ghosties/Ghoulies line comes out to play and the "He's behind you" and "Something else I'd rather be" routines are performed to perfection, as are some apple scoffing, shrunk down version, board game explanation skits led by Reece.
It's one of a kind this summer in Blackpool, so a word of warning - miss it, miss out.
